About the artist
Kathleen Roby, born in Neuville in 1966, hails from Portneuf County, Quebec. For over twenty years, she has resided in Métabetchouan-Lac-à-La-Croix, in the Lac-Saint-Jean region. It was in the late nineties that she discovered her passion for painting, thanks to artist Diane Marineau. After a long career as a lawyer, she decided to fully dedicate herself as a full-time painter. She continues to learn and develop her techniques by working alongside renowned painters such as Christine Girard, Jane Davies, Pauline Jans, Eva Kalien and Jane Burton. She is constantly seeking new ideas to perfect her art.
Kathleen Roby's numerous travels around the world, as well as her extended stays in England and Australia, are an endless source of inspiration for her. During a six-month stay in Australia, she had the opportunity to explore Aboriginal art within one of the country's largest Aboriginal reserves, Bidyadanga. This experience profoundly influenced her artistic work. During a six-week residency, she was able to observe exceptional Aboriginal artists and participate in numerous creation sessions in the Australian desert.
In addition to being an elected member of the Society of Canadian Artists (SCA), the ARTERIA Gallery and ARTXTERRA awarded her an honorable mention for the exceptional quality of her application and original works submitted during the "Exposez à New York" competition in September 2024. Her works are also appreciated by collectors such as RIO TINTO and Martin Léon. In addition to participating in a few group exhibitions in her region, she exhibited her works in a few occasions at the Galerie L'Art de Vivre in Jonquière. Kathleen was awarded the Certificate of Artistic Merit by The Luxembourg Art Prize for three consecutive editions from 2022 to 2024.
